Established in the late 1960's by a group of dedicated
dog fanciers, the Valparaiso Kennel Club was approved by
the
American Kennel Club to hold their first all
breed dog show in 1988, making 2008 their 20th
anniversary. Our members represent
many years of experience in all phases of purebred dogs
with activities ranging from conformation and obedience
to agility and water trials.
The Valparaiso Kennel Club is
committed to community involvement. In addition to our
annual dog shows, held in the month of June at the Porter
County Expo Center, we also offer conformation classes and
obedience classes.

In 2009 the members of
the Valparaiso Kennel Club began offering a
scholarship to a resident of Porter County, Indiana
who is a current student of veterinary medicine. The
first recipient of the scholarship was Brent Lakia.
Brent is truly dedicated to the science of veterinary
medicine and exhibits the determination and qualities
that we feel will make him an excellent practitioner.
Representing the Valparaiso Kennel Club, President,
Valerie Rosenblum presented Brent Lakia with a check
during the June 2009 Popcorn Cluster of Dog Shows.

In addition we participate in
the Porter County Animal Shelter's Fun Fair in April at the
Expo Center and AKC's Responsible Dog Ownership Day in
September .
